The White Album The Beatles
Have you ever played the thing all the way to the end without skipping over a track ?
I'm attempting it for the first time at the moment
Normally i would leave out Glass Onion, Why don't we do it in the road, I will ,Don't pass me by. Helter Skelter Savoy truffle both Revolutions though I don't mind Revolution 9 very occasionally. It's excellent in parts but it is a very strange mixed bag. I've never known anyone who has played it from start to finish.

I can listen to more or less everything apart from revolution 9.

Dear Prudence and Blackbird are two of my very favourite Beatles tracks.

Glass Onion, Revolution 1 and Savoy Truffle are three of my favourite tracks.

Opinions / arseholes.

WMGGW is the best one, though.

Here's another clue for you all.

The walrus was Paul.

So many changes of mood and tempo. it's hard to listen to it as a whole at one time . But I suppose it was a fantastic effort by George Martin and the boys to put it together after all the bickering and bad feeling in the making of it.

I think they even admitted that they'd started to take themselves too seriously around this time. They put a few tracks on the album that it probably could have done without.

As someone who has to sit on the 139 bus as morons walk across Abbey Road can it please be confirmed that the cover of the White Album represents an icy crevasse somewhere in a polar region with big fuck off bears ready to pounce?
Cross there, dweebs

Blame the last album, Abbey Rd for that Sven

The bloated and self indulgent soundtrack to a band disintegrating. One of the most overrated albums in pop music history. It would only have been average as a single album.

In my opinion.

Personally I think there are some cracking tracks on there, Caistor, but I agree it's over-rated. It really would be a classic if it was half the size it is.

Caistonpark

I think that's what makes it fascinating. They're all groping around and experimenting to become separate artists

I think they came back impressively with Abbey Road though. A much better album. Maybe it was all a bit less fraught by then and they knew it was their last collaboration.

It's an aural challenge, that's for sure.

Had it been released by anyone other than the Beatles I suspect at least a third, if not a half of it would have been immediately labelled as "filler".

In the early 70s I used to wonder if changing the track order would make it a little easier to get through, but I never actually made the time to find out. Now, I simply can't be arsed as there are very few albums I actually deliberately play from start to finish in one sitting.

Not enough for a double album, too much for a single album. This needed to be a three sided disc.
